The Northeast Iowa Weavers and Spinners Guild was pleased to host a workshop on rigid heddle weaving in October, 2013. Our guest instructor was Jane Patrick. She is the former editor of Handwoven, Creative Director for Schacht Spindle Company, and author of several books including The Weaver’s Idea Book for rigid heddle weaving.
Jane led the class through a variety of patterns that can be woven with the rigid heddle. Designs including Danish Medallions, Brooks Bouquet, Spanish Lace, and Leno came to life on our looms.
By the end of the workshop, we were impressed by the versatility of our little looms and inspired to make more creative cloth.
If you have a chance to attend a Jane Patrick class, I would encourage you to do so. You’ll be glad you did!
